Equanimity Bookkeeping Advisory was founded by Queensland-based bookkeeper, Jenelle Evans, a certified professional bookkeeper who enjoys working with small business owners in supporting their business goals with structured processes and efficient communication.

Jenelle has worked in administrative and banking roles her whole career, while also expressing her passion for creativity and communication in the performing arts, writing, and craft. She has developed excellent people skills and extensive knowledge of the importance of process, structure and clear communication.

When it comes to bookkeeping, Jenelle loves to work with professional people passionate about bringing beauty into their world through their business, while giving them the tools to realise (and in some cases, discover) the dreams they have for their business.

Her goal is to provide remote bookkeeping services to support small businesses in their bookkeeping and administrative needs, whilst working alongside their owners to find peace of mind in what they do – everyday.

A bookkeeper can apply to become a Registered BAS Agent, once they meet the high standards of registration including:

Qualifications

A minimum of a Cert IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping or Accounting).

Z

Experience

1,000 hours supervised experience lodging BAS during the past four years

Z

Professional Membership

Membership with at least one professional bookkeeping or accounting body.

Professional Development

Maintaining knowledge and skills, taking relevant courses and keeping up to date with legislation.

Insurance

Professional indemnity insurance policy.

Professional code of conduct

A BAS Agent follows a professional Code of Conduct so you’ll know what to expect from them.

Breaches can mean huge fines or loss of registration. To ensure you are protected, the code covers the following five areas:

Acting honestly, complying with tax laws, dealing with money in a trustworthy manner.

Independence

Acting in best interest of client and managing conflicts of interest.

Confidentiality

Not disclosing information to a third party without the client’s permission or legal duty to do so.

Taking reasonable care to ascertain client state of affairs and correctly apply GST and taxation laws.

Since 1 March 2018, the ATO has required bookkeepers providing a BAS service to be registered.

Don’t risk your business with an inexperienced bookkeeper. It can be expensive, emotionally draining, and unnecessary experience.
